Health checks, tuning & architecture

Expert eyes
on your databases.

Senior DBAs who run production databases around the clock review yours — and tell you plainly what's slowing you down, what's putting you at risk and what you're overpaying for.

Something's not right.
But what?

Slow queries, frustrated users

Reports time out and screens freeze at peak hours — and adding hardware hasn't helped.

Outages nobody can explain

Incidents get fixed, then come back, because the root cause was never found.

Licence bills keep growing

SQL Server and Oracle costs rise every year, but nobody is sure what's really needed.

Risks you can't see

Untested backups, broad permissions and unpatched servers stay hidden — until an audit or an outage finds them.

Advice you can act on.

01

Database health check

A structured review of configuration, performance, availability, backups and security — scored by area, with every finding ranked by severity.

Scorecard · Severity-ranked findings
02

Performance tuning

We find the queries, indexes, waits and settings behind the slowdown, fix the biggest ones first and measure before and after.

Query tuning · Indexing · Wait statistics
03

Architecture & HA/DR design

High availability and disaster recovery designed around your real recovery targets (RPO and RTO) — not vendor defaults.

Always On · RAC & Data Guard · Patroni
04

Licence optimisation

We map what you run against what you pay for, and find savings in editions, core counts, consolidation and cloud licensing.

SQL Server · Oracle · Azure Hybrid Benefit
05

Security audit & hardening

Permissions, encryption, auditing and patch levels reviewed against best practice, with a clear plan to close the gaps.

Least privilege · Encryption · Auditing
06

Cloud readiness & cost

Which workloads can move, to which service and at what cost — based on real usage data from your servers.

Azure · AWS · Right-sizing

The platforms we run every day

We advise on the same SQL Server, PostgreSQL and Oracle platforms we operate for our managed-service clients — so our recommendations come from production experience, not just documentation.

Frequently asked questions

What access do you need?

Usually read-only access and a few hours with your DBA or system owner. Our checks are scripted and read-only, and we never change production during an assessment without your approval.

Will the health check affect production?

Not noticeably. Our checks read system views and statistics, and we schedule them at quiet times where needed.

What do we get at the end?

An executive summary for management, a scored report per area, every finding ranked by severity with a recommended fix and effort estimate, a phased roadmap — and a session where we walk your team through it.

How is a health check different from monitoring?

A health check is a deep, point-in-time review of how your databases are built and run. Monitoring watches them continuously and reacts to incidents. Many clients start with a health check, then keep things healthy with our 24/7 monitoring.

Can you really reduce our licence costs?

Often, yes — through the right editions, fewer cores, consolidation or cloud licensing benefits. We show you the numbers before you change anything.

Can you fix what you find?

Yes — and there's no obligation to buy anything else. Many clients follow the health check with a remediation sprint, some fix things themselves, and others hand ongoing care to our 24/7 managed DBA service.
